Rocket Lesson #2: Breaking Through Gravity...
" Houston - we have lift off"...
These famous and often-heard words signal that a rocket or the Space Shuttle has begun its journey - it is off the ground and moving toward space. Appropriately, these words are greeted with cheers by the astronauts, NASA employees and onlookers alike.
In much the same way, CELEBRATION is in order whenever you overcome inertia and start moving toward your next level of abundance – represented by your goals, dreams, desires and intended results.
At the same time, "lift off" for both the Space Shuttle and YOU on your Journey of Abundance only signifies the beginning of the Journey. The next stage is equally important and, once again, the Space Shuttle has some "lessons" to offer that will support you on your own Journey.
As you know, the Space Shuttle requires and uses a HUGE amount of fuel and energy in that all-important first stage of its journey – the stage of overcoming inertia and achieving "lift off". Remember, however, that we said that all rockets and Space Shuttles use 85% of all its fuel in the first 7-10 minutes of its flight. That's why it is so important to understand what happens once it has lifted off.
You see – in lifting off of the ground, the Space Shuttle is defying gravity. To continue to fly toward space, it must continue to break through the earth's gravitational field. To do this, it requires a vast amount of fuel to build up to the speed and momentum required – without which it would be pulled back and crash to the ground.
Well - guess what?
The same is true for YOU on your Journey of Abundance!
Just like the Space Shuttle, you can EXPECT and must be PREPARED to encounter "gravitational forces" that will try to "pull you back" into old and familiar ways of thinking and operating – your old patterns, habits, beliefs and results!
These "gravitational forces" may be in the form of external events – like unexpected emergencies or financial challenges. Another type of "external" gravitational field you may encounter may be from other people, e.g., people who are not traveling a similar Journey or who "fear for your safety" or, perhaps, are even threatened by your transformational process. Of course, you'll also encounter an "internal" gravitational pull, e.g., those "mind chatter" thoughts you have that pull you back, keep you in fear or doubt or hesitation or overwhelm.
The important thing to realize is that it's PERFECTLY NORMAL to encounter gravity along the way – from the moment you "lift off" on your Journey! The fact that you encounter gravity does not mean that something is "wrong" with you or that you're "not good enough" or that "it's not going to work". In truth, the fact that you are encountering "gravity" is actually GOOD NEWS because it means that you're moving – you've lifted off from the "ground"!
That being said – since you now know that "gravity" is to be expected, the most important thing to consider is your "fuel supply". Remember – the Space Shuttle uses nearly 85% of all of its fuel in the 7-10 minutes of its flight – the time from the point of "lift off" until it breaks through the earth's gravitational field.
The Space Shuttle cannot make it to its destination on its own – without an external source of fuel – and neither can you! You will need an external fuel supply to keep your engines burning and to keep you moving upward or forward.
For the Space Shuttle (and the astronauts inside) to try to reach its destination without sufficient fuel would not only be impossible, it would actually be fatal. You're no different.
Fortunately, the astronauts are always supplied with sufficient fuel for their travels – NASA sees to that. On your Journey, however, YOU are the only one who can make sure you have sufficient fuel to reach your destination.
So what might prevent you from having the fuel you need?
In a nutshell, the answer is "scarcity".
