Continuing the Cycle...
So, once you've become aware of something – without judgment – why might the act of making a choice about the action to take (or not to take) shut down your Cycle of Learning and Growth?
For the simple reason that you may have a judgment about one or more of your choices!
Consider the example about spending money when you're lonely or depressed. Let's say, at this moment, you are aware that you're feeling lonely or depressed and are tempted to go out and buy something on the spur-of-the-moment.
For the first time, you've even managed to let go of the judgment you usually have about feeling lonely or depressed, e.g., "I shouldn't be feeling this way" or "Something is wrong if I'm feeling this way." You clearly see the pattern that has led to your impulsive spending and, instead of judging it, you simply recognize it as a pattern you've had that is neither "good" or "bad" – it's just what has been so.
With this awareness, you now have a choice about how to act – in the midst of your current experience of loneliness or feeling depressed. You can reach out and call a friend or you can take a nap because you realize that you're really just exhausted. You can go for a walk or run. You can clean the house or get busy on a project you had been looking forward to completing for a long time. OR – you can go out and buy yourself some new clothes, some new equipment, or even a new car!
Now – and here's the difference between supporting or shutting down your growth – which of the above choices would you consider to be "right" or "good" or "positive"? Which choice would you consider to be "wrong" or "bad" or "negative"?
More importantly, how might that perception impact your ability to freely choose?
Much like with the first stage of awareness, the moment you have a judgment about the choices you see to make or actually do make, you interrupt the natural Cycle of Learning, Growth & Abundance. Once again – you are no longer FREE to choose and so, in effect, your judgmentsmake the choice for you!
Judgment interferes with the natural process of learning and growth! It does so in all stages of this Cycle – including the third stage.
