Is Your "Residual Income" REALLY "Residual"?
 One of the most powerful and attractive elements of many entrepreneurial opportunities, especially network marketing, is the fact that you are able to leverage yourself, your money, your time and your energy through the efforts of your associates. This opportunity to create leverage is what makes having a residual income from your business possible.
Despite this, many network marketers and entrepreneurs are not able to experience the abundance a residual income provides - often because of some of the "money messages" that continue to influence them today.
For example, many entrepreneurs (including, perhaps, you) have grown up with "money messages" like "it is better to give than to receive" or "you have to work hard for what you get" or "if you don't earn it, you don't deserve" or "you have to give something to get something".
If this type of past "conditioning" is still influencing you today, then it is likely that you will have a difficult time RECEIVING and enjoying a "residual income" if you haven't "worked hard for it". To "justify" your growing income, you may continue to work harder and harder in your business - as a way of "earning" this RESIDUAL (?) income.
Similarly, your past "conditioning", experiences, beliefs and thoughts may have resulted in a scarcity pattern that has you continually FOCUS on or see things as "not enough". In this case, it would not be unlike what you would experience if you were wearing red sunglasses, i.e., everything will look red to you even though, in fact, it may be another color.
If the red of these glasses is a metaphor for your pattern of focusing on "not enough", then all you will see is "not enough" or "not good enough" - no matter how large your income or commission check may be. Because of this, you continue to work harder and longer in your business and do not stop to enjoy the abundance and success you've achieved.
You see, if you (and/or your associates) put a lot of time and energy into developing your business - yet have not developed your ability to RECEIVE acknowledgment, support, money and abundance without having "earned" or "deserved" it, you will NEVER experience the power of having a residual income, i.e., income you receive rather than earn. Without this ability, your abundance will always be limited to that which you can create, make, earn and/or handle by yourself.
Shakti Gawain addresses this pattern in her book, Creating True Prosperity, when she writes, "Until we learn to receive appreciation, we won't be able to fully (or easily) receive love, nurturing, success, money, fulfillment, and/or other forms of abundance."
If one of the benefits that attracted you to your business is the opportunity to use leverage to create a residual income, then begin TODAY to actively develop your ability to receive (and not just EARN) abundance.
You can begin with compliments or acknowledgments. Each time you receive one, simply RECEIVE it and say "thank you". Next (or simultaneously) practice receiving in other areas. Whenever anyone offers you assistance, coaching, encouragement, support, money or a gift - simply RECEIVE it with a grateful "thank you".
You might be amazed at the abundance you will experience as a result!
Remember, it is IMPOSSIBLE to experience the abundance that LEVERAGE and RESIDUAL income offers you if you are not able to RECEIVE and/or have been "conditioned" against RECEIVING something unless you've "earned it" or "deserve it".
