Has your "fast start" begun to fade?

Did you have a lot of enthusiasm, energy and success when you first began your business? Are you now finding that same level of enthusiasm, energy and success difficult to maintain - and, perhaps, even beginning to fade?

If so, know that you what you are experiencing is common for many entrepreneurs.

In truth, there are several underlying "scarcity patterns" that could contribute to a "start fast then fade" pattern in your business. Let me describe one of them now by sharing with you a memory I have of my first "science experiment" in elementary school – when I was in either first or second grade.

In this experiment, we were given a bean seed and asked to plant it in a Styrofoam cup filled with dirt. Then we were instructed to "water it so that it can grow, place it on the windowsill and watch how nature works."

Of course, we all KNEW that the bean seed would start growing underground and then become a bean plant and then produce some beans. The only problem was that – because we used a Styrofoam cup – we couldn't SEE anything happening. We couldn't SEE the growth!

And that's when the initial enthusiasm and excitement of some of my classmates turned into IMPATIENCE! I think they figured that if watering the seed helped it grow - then they only needed to water it MORE often and it would grow FASTER.

As a result of this way of thinking, my enthusiastic classmates began watering their bean seeds every chance they had – sometimes two or three times in a day! Needless, to say, their bean plants quickly died from over-watering.

You see, as much as they wanted to (and tried to) "speed up" the growth of their bean seeds, my classmates actually KILLED it in their attempts to do so.

This exact same pattern occurs frequently for entrepreneurs - perhaps it has occurred for you. When you first started out in your business, you may have been excited, enthusiastic and relaxed as you took action in your business. You may, in fact, have had "minimal" goals or expectations.

Then, as a result of your excitement, enthusiasm and relaxed and flowing energy - you experienced faster or greater levels of success than you had expected!

Suddenly, you may have begun to think something like, "Well - if I can achieve these results without REALLY trying very hard - imagine what I could do if I started to work my business more seriously!"

Thus, unknowingly and unintentionally, you began putting PRESSURE on yourself to do MORE and grow your business FASTER. In effect, you began "over-watering" your seed and killing its growth - along with your initial enthusiasm, excitement and success.

Like my classmates, you may have become IMPATIENT and, instead of recognizing and acknowledging the growth and success you had (and have!) already experienced, you began to focus on the fact that your business isn't growing "fast enough" or "big enough" now.

Can you now see how this need to "hurry up and get there" puts pressure on you, disempowers you, blocks or drains your energy, and keeps you focused on scarcity?

If you can - and if any of what I have described resonates with you and your experience - are you NOW willing to let go of the pressure you've been putting on yourself by thinking that you need to be working on your business more and more (i.e., "watering your bean seed every chance you have")?

Are you willing to focus on taking actions once again in your business that emphasize and acknowledge CONSISTENT growth?

If so, then "water your seed" ONCE today by taking ONE action to grow your business. Focus on doing SOMETHING instead of on doing it ALL or A LOT. Then ACKNOWLEDGE yourself for doing so.

Your business will be able to grow more naturally, freely and abundantly again as you do so - and there's a good chance you'll start enjoying yourself along the way.

As I said, there are several underlying "scarcity patterns" that could contribute to a "start fast then fade" pattern in your business. My "bean seed" analogy briefly addresses only ONE of them. This pattern - along with others that contribute to a "start fast then fade" experience - are just some of the principles you can learn, experience AND be supported to apply in your business when you subscribe to the Jump-Start Abundance!
